The Susquehanna Appalachian Trail Club
(SATC) is looking for more volunteers to help them with maintenance on the A.T. between Cold Spring Trail and Rausch Gap on Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m to 2:30 p.m
Work will include removing encroaching mountain laurel along the side of the trail and clearing trees that have recently fallen and now lay across the path, as well as removing debri build up in trail structures known as water bars to help prevent erosion. These are general trail maintenance task that have been being performed by volunteers throughout the Appalachian Trail since volunteers created it, and you can become a part of that legacy!
The group will be meeting at Funk’s Restaurant before driving over to Memorial Lake State Park. Be sure to wear sturdy boots, long pants. Work gloves will be provided for this trip. Also, bring your own lunch, personal snacks, a rain jacket, insect repellent, and plenty of water. Expect to hike at least 3.5 miles by the end of the work trip.
